My name is Pat Wright and I started in the DB world back in 1999 with Sybase Sql Anywhere 5.5. Like Many DBA’s there was no one else to work on the database server so I volunteered. We soon migrated that into MS Sql server 7.0 then worked our way up to Sql 2000.
Fast forward 20+ years. I’ve now branched into Big data with Hive, Hadoop, Elastic Search. I’ve been focused on PostgreSQL for the last 5 years. I’ve spent long nights working on AWS, Mysql, Linux and Windows. I’ve failed many a DW and ETL process and I’ve built a few that have worked as well. Outside of my technical skills, I’ve been the Co-Founder and President of Utah Geek Events for the last 12 years. I’ve organized or assisted with over 30 technical conferences of various sizes.
